Steven Antonio Manes (°1993)

Manes onderzoekt en reflecteert over het bestaan en de waarde van de mens in een vluchtige en vergankelijke wereld, zowel in 2D als in 3D.

Hij laat zich daarbij inspireren door zijn Italiaanse roots en familiale voorgeschiedenis.  Zowel de ruwheid van het Zuid-Italiaanse landschap en zijn abstracte vormen als het migratie-verleden van zijn (voor)ouders beïnvloeden zijn werk.  De verbondenheid met het landschap geeft zijn werk een aards karakter en verwijzingen naar de Arte Povera zijn niet ver weg.  

ACT XVII zal van start gaan tijdens de Hasseltse kunstennacht op donderdagavond 16 september. 

Ook tijdens Drawing Days (1-3 oktober 2021) kon het publiek getuige zijn van de kunstenaar in actie.

Steven Antonio Manes (°1993)

Manes spontaneously conducts an in-depth investigation that reflects on the existence and value of man in a world that is fleeting and transient.

His Italian roots have a profound influence on his work. In the South of Italy, he was very inspired and attracted by every aspect of this landscape, but mainly the roughness and abstract shapes.

The attraction to the landscape makes the work very grounded, earthly, and gives it character.
Steven Antonio works in an explosive manner, showing the perishability of the world and existential thoughts through abstract-expressionist drawings and arte-povera inspired sculptures.  

ACT XVII took off during the Hasselt kunstennacht on Thursday night September 16.

During Drawing Days (2021, October 1 - 3) everyone could see the artist in action @ smartlab and online.
